An Urgent Enquiry
Mary Conroy is taking part, with fellow artist Joanna Hopkins, in An Urgent Enquiry, a residency programme with Wexford County Council, Fingal County Council and Dublin City Council supported by the Arts Council Invitation to Collaboration Scheme.
Both artists are based in Portrane, Fingal where 100 acres of coastal land has disappeared into the sea over the past forty years. This residency programme is focused on biodiversity and the effects of climate change along Ireland’s east coast. For three months, the artists will live in Portrane and connect with environmental specialists and local communities on this collaborative project. Research outcomes will be presented in Autumn 2019.
Mary Conroy has been Artist-in-Residence at Ormston House since 2016. You can read a recent Irish Times article about An Urgent Enquiry here. Pictured above: a family of black-backed gulls on Ireland’s Eye, courtesy of the artist.
