Dóchas (Hope) is a three-part video of vocal performances by Ceara Conway with the Water Ensemble, telling the story of the Gael Linn boats in the 1950s. Ormston House was delighted to host a film shoot for this new work commissioned as part of Ó Chill Chaoil go Carna with Oireachtas na Gaeilge, with support from the Arts Council of Ireland, Waterways Ireland and FLAG West.
An exhibition of the same title will be launched at Waterways Ireland in Dublin (13-20 April) before touring to the Irish Workhouse Centre in Portumna (24 May-3 June), Mourne Maritime Centre in Kilkeel (10-13 May), and Carna in Connemara (21-30 June).
Artist acknowledgements and thanks: Tom Flanagan (Film), Andy Connolly (Sound), Ormston House, Naas Community Men’s Shed, Pat Lysaght, Dance Limerick, Ealaín na Gaeltachta and the University of Limerick Surf Club.
