Grounding: Alternative Art School

 In Uncategorised

Grounding is an alternative art school, bringing together artists and designers to share practices in peer-led learning endeavours. The project will run from 24-30 July 2017, working from a base at Ormston House. This year’s participants are Emma Fisher, Sophie Demay, Alma Tischler Wood, Dr. John Wood, Caelan Bristow, Faye Spencer, John Macormac, Sinead Conlon, Simon Thompson, Bernardine Carroll, Jan Uprichard, and Paul Bailey.

For many, art school provided a space for experimenting and trying out new methodologies, new ideas, new ways of thinking in a supportive environment. The aim of Grounding is to try and harness what is so valuable about that experience – the safety and openness of a peer-community, and try and recreate some of it outside of the pressures of academic structures and results based projects.

Ormston House will host two public events during Grounding: a Workspace Social Lunchtime Disco on Thursday 27 July, 1-2pm and an Open Studio event on Saturday 30 July, 1-3pm.

Admission is free & all are welcome.
