World Recipe Exchange: Salon du Chat
World Recipe Exchange and Salon du Chat have teamed up to invite you to a conversation about migration, food heritage and identity. Think speed-debating, think chat without the chit, think the conversation of life. Take a seat, a drink and a menu. But instead of ordering food, order conversation.
This is a family-friendly event. Refreshments will be served.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
About World Recipe Exchange:
World Recipe Exchange is a programme of food events based at Ormston House. We bring people together to explore the international culinary heritage of Limerick and to create meeting spaces for people of all cultures. As we cook, taste and share food, we are also creating a database of recipes that originate from all corners of the world but are nowadays cooked side by side in the kitchens of our city.
Why food? Eating and celebrating is a great way to bring people together. Culinary rituals go far beyond mere food consumption: they accompany the most important events of our lives and foster the culture of sharing and generosity. Food is an important element of our identities and a significant aspect of belonging and feeling at home. This project highlights such qualities of culinary traditions and aims at creating meeting-spaces where we explore how our cooking traditions continue and change in new contexts.
About Salon du Chat:
Adding a touch of theatre and the surreal to the art of conversation, Salon du Chat is an arts project with a twist. Recreating the atmosphere of Bohemian Paris, with a knowing nod to online chat rooms, Salon du Chat is a shrine to the art of good conversation.Take a seat, a drink and a menu. But instead of ordering food, order conversation.Salon du Chat creates a new menu for each event and has been host to hundreds of stimulating conversations, inspirational chats and momentous discussions.
