Scene of the Myth
Scene of the Myth is a catalogue of thirteen works by Sarah Pierce, spanning twenty years.
We are delighted to launch Scene of the Myth at Ormston House. Our Artistic Director Pádraic E. Moore will be joined by Nathan O’Donnell, Roy Claire Potter, and Sarah Pierce for readings and informal conversation about the catalogue and its concerns.
The title of the publication stems from a Pierce essay, where she describes museums and art academies as places where we reproduce and reinvent narratives across generations, geographies and times.
The included works comprised the exhibition Sarah Pierce: Scene of the Myth, curated by Rike Frank at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (Dublin), GfZK (Leipzig), and John Hansard (Southhampton) from 2023–2025. The book, conceived in collaboration with managing editor Nathan O’Donnell, situates this expansive exhibition through installation views at the three venues, including documentation of performances and readings; a selection of texts relating to former iterations of the works, including writings by the artist; and a set of four new texts written specifically for the catalogue.
Join us for the launch on 24 October 2025 at 6pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Ormston House is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland and Limerick Arts Office.
