Kathy Prendergast

 In Uncategorised

We are delighted to announce that Kathy Prendergast will be our guest selector for the third edition of The Limerick Show.

Kathy Prendergast’s practice combines drawing, sculpture and installation. Her work explores a potent cluster of issues including power, identity, landscape, memory, geography, and family. A connection between the body and landscape, often manifested through mapping, can be traced back to the beginning of her practice. Prendergast points out the subjectivity of maps, their inherent colonialism, and the ultimate fragility of borders and territories over time. Faithful to mark-making, drawing and hand-crafting as well as the revelatory potential of sparking unfamiliar connections with everyday objects, her work is enigmatic, eerily beautiful and emotionally resonant.

A graduate of NCAD (Fine Art) and the RCA (Sculpture), she represented Ireland in the Venice Biennale in 1995 where she won the Best Young Artist prize. Recent group and solo shows include ‘Cities of the World’ with Chris Leach, Butler Gallery, 2025, ‘Land’, Douglas Hyde Gallery, 2024/25 and ‘Stasis Field’, John Hansard gallery, 2025 and Kerlin Gallery, 2026. Kathy Prendergast is a member of Aosdana and lives and works in London.

The Limerick Show will run from December into early 2027. Full details on the open call will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Limerick Show is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Limerick City and County Council.
