Happy Holidays 2025

 In Uncategorised

The team and Board of Directors at Ormston House thank you for your support this year and wish you a happy and safe holiday season.

The gallery will close to the public at 6pm on Saturday, 13 December 2025, and our office will remain open until Friday, 19 December. We reopen to the public on Wednesday, 14 January 2026.

2025 at Ormston House

Our programme this year has seen an emphasis on solo presentations by artists at different career stages: Daniel Tuomey, Kerry Guinan, and Susan MacWilliam. We also collaborated with EVA International on the group exhibition Bíodh Orm Anocht, and we welcomed various artists, researchers, and experts for talks and workshops.

We have hosted a selection of experimental and ambitious performances, including Limerick’s independent music festival Féile na Gréine and the second edition of our concert series Gleo. We also welcomed the five dance artists of The Parsley Collective for a micro-residency and performance as part of their Dance-Artist-in-Residence at Dance Limerick and Limerick City and County Council. A commission by Ormston House produced two works by our Artists-in-Residence about the late actress Constance Smith: the public sculpture A Star for Connie, created by our Artist-in-Residence Mary Conroy, and the theatrical event CONNIE, written and created by Ann Blake and Joanne Ryan. Research by Historian-in-Residence Sharon Slater was central to both these works.

Fostering professional development remains a core tenet of Ormston House. Shirani Bolle and Alice Harrold joined our Artist Affiliate Scheme, a support mechanism tailored to the needs of the individual artist. We also collaborated with Kunstverein Aughrim, Superprojects, and Limerick School of Art and Design (TUS) on various sessions around technical and professional skills for artists and curators.

Ormston House and our programme was made possible through the generous support of The Arts Council of Ireland, Limerick Arts Office, Creative Ireland, and Limerick Festivals and Events. Individual artist projects were also supported by the Centre for Art and the Political Imaginary, Sweden and the Mondriaan Fund, the public fund for visual art and cultural heritage in the Netherlands.
