Melissa Appleton
We are happy to announce that Melissa Appleton will join us as a guest selector for The Limerick Show.
Appleton is a spatial designer, curator, and director with a background in architecture. She is currently co-director at Peak Cymru, an arts organisation in the Black Mountains, Wales. Appleton’s work is driven by critical questions around imagination, economy, and social justice in rural communities, drawing on her experience of growing up in a village near Newport, South Wales.
Appleton has taught at The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University; Royal College of Art; and The Bartlett, University College London (UCL). She is currently a research fellow at De Appel, Amsterdam and undertook the De Appel Curatorial Programme in 2022. In 2023/24 she was part of the selection committee for the British Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia.
We are seeking submissions for The Limerick Show. For this local opportunity, we invite members based in Limerick city and county to propose artworks for a showcase opening in November 2024 at Ormston House. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, 21 September at 6pm. You can find the submission guidelines here. Please email info@ormstonhouse.com with any queries.
The Limerick Show is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Limerick City and County Council.
