Open Call: Graduate Artists-in-Residence

Ormston House is delighted to offer an opportunity for recent graduates to join our Artist-in-Residence Scheme for a period of twelve months. Artists who have graduated, or are about to graduate, from Limerick School of Art and Design (TUS) from 2021 to 2024 are eligible to apply. This scheme is intended for artists based in the Limerick region (Clare, Limerick, Tipperary) who intend on pursuing a career in the visual arts.

Who can apply:

Graduates from all TUS programmes, including Master’s Degree. Applicants must be based in the Limerick region (Clare, Limerick, Tipperary) and must be a member of Ormston House. Membership is free of charge and applicants can sign up at any time. For further information on our Membership Scheme, please see here.

What we offer:

  • Curatorial support and mentorship
  • Guidance on professional development (application and proposal writing, documentation, and building networks)
  • €1000 seed fund to go towards a professional opportunity identified by the artist

How to apply:

Please email the following material in a single PDF to info@ormstonhouse.com by 12 June 2024, 12pm.

  • An expression of interest, please state why this opportunity would benefit you and your practice (max. 250 words)
  • An artist statement (max. 250 words)
  • Up to 5 examples of work (images, links to online videos and sound files, and/or samples of writing)
  • An up-to-date CV of no more than 3 pages

Notes:

  • Late applications cannot be considered
  • Please do not exceed a file limit of 10MB
  • Please ensure all links are working correctly and passwords are included where required
  • Please do not use your student email address to join our Membership Scheme, as this will expire after graduation

About the Artist-in-Residence Scheme:

The Artist-in-Residence Scheme is part of our Research & Residency (R&R) Programme, which has become a key tool in developing our Artistic Programme annually. It includes outbound and inbound opportunities that establish and grow relationships with artists and arts networks in Ireland and abroad.

The Artist-in-Residence Scheme is designed to be a support mechanism for artists based in the Limerick region and is tailored to the needs of the individual artist. It offers opportunities to connect and engage with the programme and other artists in residence as well as providing curatorial support and mentorship.

Supports offered to artists have included:

  • advice on concept development through to production
  • space for experimentation and testing
  • space for research and documentation
  • space for private and semi-private meetings
  • one-to-one professional practice training and mentorship
  • Commissioning opportunities
  • €1000 seed-feeding
