Programme

Stephen Murphy

Stephen Murphy will talk about building character as a consequence of criticism, rejection, and failure. Or about being an artist.

Admission is free and all are welcome. Don’t forget to bring your lunch!

About Stephen:

Stephen is a practicing artist, researcher and educator who has been described by the UK’s Good Schools Guide as “inspiring”. Career highlights to date include exhibiting at the British National Portrait Gallery in the BP Portrait Award, being profiled in the Irish Arts Review, being the youngest artist yet to be invited artist-in-residence at the Albers Foundation in Connecticut, and winning awards such as first prize in The Shinnors Selection (2004), the Carter Jonas Prize (2010) and a Limerick City of Culture 2014 MA Scholarship. His work is held by private collectors and by institutions including GIC Hammersmith, Limerick Institute of Technology, and Cambridge University.

About the Workspace Social:

The Workspace Social is a weekly event developed as an alternative format for artists’ talks and networking. Every Thursday, a local or visiting artist is invited to join us for lunch: to discuss a recent project, to share new research or to propose an activity. Participants are welcome to bring along their lunch and to eat with the artist.
