Reverend Nóirín Ní Riain
During this month’s Limerick Lady podcast, Reverend Nóirín Ní Riain shares the story behind suddenly losing her voice at the age of fourteen for twenty years, as well as the journey to her faith, to her late ex-husband Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, to working with Sinéad O’Connor, to living with the monks at Glenstal Abbey, and to her sense of self and contentment in recent years.
Ann Blake and Emma Langford caught up with the woman who has impacted both of their lives in various ways: the ordained interfaith minister who married Ann and her wife Jenny; a tutor and mentor to Emma at the University of Limerick; and a friend to both. In this episode, they also talk about the Irish Spring festival of Imbolc and Brigid, the goddess and saint, spirituality, what that might mean to us, and why we as Irish people often shy away from it.
