Bíodh Orm Anocht in VAN

 In Uncategorised

Visual Artists Ireland has published a review of Bíodh Orm Anocht, a group exhibition developed by Ormston House in collaboration with EVA International.

Written by Sheenagh Geoghegan, the review appears in the November – December 2025 issue of the Visual Artists’ News Sheet. Geoghegan draws a connection between Manchán Magan’s work promoting the Irish language and the contributing artists’ engagement with historical forms of knowledge: “If Manchán showed us that speaking Irish could be an act of love, Bíodh Orm Anocht demonstrates that making art in this spirit can keep that love alive – luminous, fragile, and shared.”

About Bíodh Orm Anocht:

The four artists in this group exhibition – Seán Hannan, Laura Ní Fhlaibhín, Ciarán Ó Dochartaigh, and Kiera O’Toole – are concerned with the metaphorical qualities of materials. They draw from disciplines outside the visual arts, including mythology, zoology, and cartography, and infuse them with personal meaning. Inherent in these works is the possibility that the natural world can give rise to forms of knowledge and expression that transcend time and language.
