Performance artist Day Magee joins us for this week’s Workspace Social at Ormston House. Day will talk about his practice which started seven years ago while at secondary school, and grew through independent art platforms such as Livestock and Dublin Live Art Festival. He will share insights such as the influence of his theatre background – including teaching physical theatre – on the more sculptural aspects of his performance work.
Admission is free and all are welcome. Don’t forget to bring your lunch!
About Day Magee:
Day Magee is an artist from Dublin currently studying Sculpture & Combined Media at Limerick School of Art and Design. His work is concerned with the sexually and psychologically abject, and the role of shame-based trauma in the queer sick body, producing live performance-centred, multimedia installations. His performances have been described as “confrontational, dark, and visceral.”
About the Workspace Social:
The Workspace Social is a weekly event developed as an alternative format for artists’ talks and networking. Every Thursday, a local or visiting artist is invited to join us for lunch: to discuss a recent project, to share new research or to propose an activity. Participants are welcome to bring along their lunch and to eat with the artist.
The Workspace Social is supported by Healthy Limerick, an initiative jointly funded by Limerick City and County Council and the HSE as part of the Social Development Directorate.
